KARACHI: PAF aircraft

Published May 11, 2007

KARACHI, May 10: Apropos of a news-item captioned `Birds down 12 PAF planes in 16 months’ that appeared in the May 10 issue of Dawn, the Pakistan Air Force on Thursday issued the following statement: “PAF clarifies that two aircraft have been lost in the last six months due to bird strike, instead of 12 aircraft in 16 months erroneously mentioned in the news report.”

However, the disclosure was made by Air Vice Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman in conversation with newsmen on Wednesday. Other newspapers have also carried reports identical to the one that appeared in Dawn on May 10. The reporter, therefore, stands by his story.
