KARACHI, April 29: The arrangements for International Mystic Music Sufi Festival were finalised at a meeting, chaired by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, at the Governor’s House.

The governor issued directives to the concerned provincial departments for the success of the festival. He pointed out that Sindh was the soil of Sufis who spread the message of peace, love and understanding in an effective manner. He said a major chunk of the income from this festival would go to recently established Legend Trust.

Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan expressed the hope that the festival would prove a milestone in promoting new talents and reviving the diminishing mystic music. He said the festival would be made a permanent feature of the city’s cultural programmes.

The organisers said it was the first mega event on Sufism, which was being organised with the collaboration of public and private sectors from May 3 to 7. More than 300 international and local artists would perform in the festival, they said.

The meeting was attended by Finance Adviser M.A. Jalil, Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani, Karachi Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal, Principal Secretary Mohammed Saleem Khan, provincial secretaries culture, finance, excise and taxation besides other senior officials and the organisers.—APP
