MUZAFFARABAD, April 27: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan and the US Embassy’s Acting Deputy Chief of Mission James H. Williams on Thursday inaugurated a ‘Lincoln Corner’ at the AJK University.

The US-government funded Lincoln Corner is a resource centre that offers information on the United States, its culture, economy, politics, society, history, education and people. It is the fourth one in Pakistan after Peshawar, Islamabad and Karachi. The American embassy plans to open another one at the Punjab University by the end of the year.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the AJK premier expressed gratitude to the US government and the American people for showing interest in promoting higher education and assisting the local governments in Pakistan.

“The Lincoln Corner in Muzaffarabad will be a wonderful gift of knowledge from the American people to the Kashmiris…I hope this will be a beginning towards the ultimate goal of achieving a world of peace, prosperity and knowledge, something the Kashmiris have always cherished," Sardar Attique said.

Mr Williams in his speech recalled that the US had been partnering with the AJKU for over 20 years.
