HYDERABAD, April 27: An official of the Motorway Police has been booked on the charge of killing his wife.

Shahina alias Tania, daughter of Liaquat Rajput, was shot dead allegedly by her husband Afzal Hussain Qureshi of the Motorway Police, in Rani Bagh (zoo) on Thursday night.

According to the GOR Police, Ms Sabiha, mother of the deceased, has lodged an FIR against her son-in-law.

Shahina was living with her parents because of some differences with her husband, said the mother. Last night Afzal Qureshi after apologising took his wife for dinner but later her body was found in Rani Bagh which was handed to the parents after post-mortem while the accused absconded.

In another incident, one person was killed and another was injured in the jurisdiction of Makki Shah police station near Baloch Hotel when people resorted to aerial firing to celebrate a wedding.

Khuda Bux Baloch was shot dead and Asif Baloch injured when they tried to stop accused Naseem, Danish and Nasir from aerial firing. The accused were also severely beaten after the incident and were admitted to the Civil Hospital later.Makki Shah Police registered a case against them on the complaint of Rasool Bux, father of the deceased Khuda Bux. One of the accused, Danish Qureshi, was reported to be an ASI in police department.

ELECTROCUTED: An electrician of the Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, Ghulam Ali, was electrocuted when he tried to remove some broken live wires from an electric pole in Latifabad-11 on Thursday night.

Residents of the area on Friday staged a demonstration and burnt tyres at the BISE chowk and raised slogans against Hesco.
