KARACHI, April 24: Adviser to the Chief Minister on Home Waseem Akhtar has asked scouts to come forward and coordinate with the government in eliminating terrorism, narcotics trade, cellphone snatching and other crimes.

He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugurating ceremony of the 8th National Rover Moot of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association here on Tuesday. Rover scouts from Punjab, NWFP, Balochistan, Sindh and Azad Kashmir, besides PIA and Pakistan Railways, are participating in the moot which would continue till April 28.

Preventing youth from indulging in crime and addiction would service to the nation and humanity, he told the scouts. He noted that scouting helped youths to develop their own and others’ character to become useful and patriot citizens who would always come forward to help the suffering humanity in the event of natural calamities, accidents and tragedies.

He observed that scouts possessed the spirit of service to humanity. “Today, the youths are celebrating these centenary under the banner of ‘One world and one promise’ which is a happy occasion, he added.
