KARACHI, April 18: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that the Indian consulate here will soon resume issuing visas. He stated this while talking to Sajjadah Nasheen of Dargah Ajmer Sharif Syed Sarwar Chishti who called on him at the Governor’s House along with a delegation comprising Syed Shahjehan Ali Shah, Mohammad Rafiq Memon, Iftikhar Ahmed and Majeed Abbasi.

Syed Chishti hailed the governor’s efforts for the restoration of Thar rail route between India and Pakistan and said he was impressed by the massive development work going on in Sindh.

Dr Ibad said that steps were being taken to provide all possible facilities to passengers of Thar Express. Work was also under way on the renovation of the Khokhrapar railway station which would be completed soon, he added.

The delegation apprised the governor of the programmes chalked out by the Ajmer Sharif and Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Foundation for the establishment of an educational institution at a cost of Rs1.5 billion in Ajmer Sharif on the pattern of the Aligarh Muslim University. He said a plot measuring 60 acres had also been purchased in the city.

The governor said that Sufi saints had played an important role in the spread of Islam and they always presented a soft image of Islam.

He said that the messages of Sufi saints were aimed at promoting love, peace and unity in the world. He said the Sindh government was organising a ‘Sufi Festival’ in the province.

The delegation leader invited the governor to visit Ajmer Sharif.—PPI
