KARACHI, April 16: Worst type of traffic jam was witnessed on Monday evening when hundreds of protestors blocked main Banaras Chowk to protest prolonged power breakdowns. They shouted slogans against officials of the power utility and the roads remained blocked from 2pm to 8.30pm.

Residents of various localities including Pathan Colony, Frontier Colony, Aligarh Colony and other adjacent areas took out processions in protest and blocked main Banaras Chowk.

Passengers remained stranded in public transport and private cars for many hours, while many of them left public transport vehicles and opted to walk towards their destinations. The people said power supply was suspended daily for hours and their lives were thus made miserable. They later dispersed peacefully on intervention of local elders.
