KARACHI, March 30: Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) on Friday arrested a close associate of notorious gang leader Rehman Dakait during a raid in Kalakot. Officials said Younis alias Madhi, who had a reward of Rs300,000 on his arrest, was arrested at Nawa Lane on a tip off after an exchange of fire. They said his accomplices, Sajid Tunda, Amjad Lashari, Baba Ladla and Abdul Haram alias Fauji, however fled the scene.

The officials said Younis was a high profile criminal who was looking after the affairs of Rehman Dakait gang in the absence of the ringleader who was in hiding. They said the suspect used to extort money from the people and he was running the drug business in Lyari.

The officials said the gangster was a dreaded figure in the area and wanted by the police in various heinous acts of killing, kidnapping for ransom, bomb blasts, drug peddling etc. They said the raiding party also seized a huge quantity of explosive material, arms and ammunition, hand grenade and hashish from Younis Madhi.

While appreciating the performance of the paramilitary troops, Director General Sindh Rangers Major General Javed Zia called upon the people to extend all possible help to the law enforcement agencies in their endeavours to capture all such gangsters who were posing threats to the life and property of citizens.
