KARACHI, March 27: A sister ship can be impleaded as a party if the offending vessel is not traceable, the Sindh High Court ordered on Tuesday in an order on an admiralty suit.

Justice Mushir Alam, who was adjudicating a suit instituted by textile concern through Advocate Nisar A. Mujahid, also held that causes of action arising from more than one contract or agreement could be joined in a single plaint.

He said a bill of lading had its own evidentiary value as to the validation of a contract and a party in possession of an original bill has a prima facie claim against a ship. He upheld his interim order for arrest of three ships as their release would have defeated the execution of any decree against the defendant shipping company. — Staff Reporter
