KARACHI, March 23: Pakistani and Indian singers had the audience spellbound at a charity concert held on Thursday night. At the show organized by ‘Friends of Apwa’ (All Pakistan Women’s Association) Sajjad Ali, Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet Bhattacharya enthralled the audience, singing many hit songs that echoed all around the Mohatta Palace venue till about 3am.

The Indian stars intermittently talked to the audience and said they found it very exciting to be in Pakistan, especially being among admirers amid melodies. ‘Today, our dream of getting close to Pakistani admirers has come true,’ they said, adding that it was great to perform before ‘our own people.’

Earlier, during the welcome address, Ms Laila Sarfaraz Haroon said that Apwa was a non-political organization serving the cause of women in Pakistan for over six decades. It has been rendering services to womenfolk in the fields of health and education.
