KARACHI, March 18: Students of Jinnah University for Women displayed their creative skills at a science contest ‘The Matrix of Life’ held on Saturday. This was the second such competition organised at the institution in two years.

Thirty one exhibits were on display at the inter-departmental contest organised by the biochemistry department. The contest divided into two categories, posters and models, was adjudged by Dr Bilquis Mujeeb, Dr Rafiya Saeed, Dr Hussan Afroze and Associate Professor Farah Tariq.

In the poster category, Saira Hussain of microbiology department received first prize on immune system; Abeer Fatima of pharmacy department got the second prize on development of fetus; Mohadissa Fatima of biochemistry department clinched third prize on living cell and atom.

In the model category, ‘keys of life’ by Alveena M. Shafi of botany department, ‘origin of life’ by Nadia Ansari of zoology department and ‘animal cell’ by Anum Subhan of biochemistry department got first, second and third prizes respectively.
