SUKKUR, Feb 22: Sindh PML (QA) president Ghous Bux Maher has said that vested interests are obstructing the unification of various PML factions as this will endanger their monopolistic designs.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Maher said that he was still optimistic about the unification.

He said that a delegation, led by PML(QA) President Mian Mohammad Azher, would start a tour of Sindh from Feb 27, in which they would meet the workers and other politicians to assess party position in the coming elections.

Mr Maher said the absence of Nawaz Sharif, Benazir Bhutto and Altaf Hussain would not make much difference and added that there there was no need to talk about the removing of restrictions on their return to Pakistan, as they were self-exiled.

He said that the PML would contest on all seats in Sindh and would like to reach an understanding with other parties including the Sindh Democratic Alliance. He ruled out alliance with the PPP.

The Sindh PML (QA) president said that his meetings with Amin Fahim and Agha Tariq were of personal nature and had nothing to do with PML politics. He denied that he had been asked to join the PPP by them.
