HYDERABAD, March 15: Lawyers’ protest against President Musharraf’s decision to suspend Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, including boycott of proceedings of courts, continued for fourth consecutive day on Thursday in different parts of Sindh.

In Hyderabad, a group of lawyers observed token hunger strike outside the civil courts and staged a rally on the court premises.

SANGHAR: Lawyers observed token hunger strike, wore black arm bands and hoisted black flag atop the office of the District Bar Association. They demanded release of family members of Justice Chaudhry.

NAWABSHAH: Lawyers continued boycott of courts and took out a rally, which emerged from the DBA office and culminated at the district council secretariat.

They carried placards and raised slogans against Gen Musharraf and the acting chief justice.

They also criticized the government for manhandling the chief justice and wondered how a government could do justice to its people when it did not spare the chief justice of the country. They pledged to continue their protest till the reinstatement of the chief justice.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Lawyers in Naushahro Feroze, Kandiaro, Moro and Bhirya continued boycott of courts.

Similar protests were held in Umerkot, Shikarpur, Larkana, Thatta, Khairpur, Badin, Mirpurkhas and other cities of Sindh.
