KARACHI, March 12: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has announced the results of its Proficiency Evaluation Test (PET) 2006, which was taken by 1,216 students of 14 medical colleges in 11 different cities.

According to PMA’s central secretary, Dr Habibur Rehman Soomro, two students of the People’s Medical College, Nawabshah, Khalida Parveen and Fatima Rizvi secured first and second positions respectively, while Mehreen Shamim of the Dow University of Health Sciences and Raja Gurdutt of Chandka Medical College, Larkana, got third positions in the test.

A prize distribution ceremony will be held in Karachi soon, Dr Soomro added.

Meanwhile, the PMA has also expressed concern over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, saying that the worst show of power had been unleashed against the judiciary in particular.

The medical profession has also seen and appreciated his suo motu action taken against the illegal trade of kidney in the country, said a press release of the association on Monday.
