KARACHI: SHCBA not to attend court

Published March 11, 2007

KARACHI, March 10: The Sindh High Court Bar Association member will abstain from attending court on March 12 to protest against the ouster of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

A resolution passed by the SHCBA executive committee on Saturday said more protest measures would be decided on March 13 after consultation with other bar organisations.

The SHCBA President, Abrar Hasan, said that the allegations leveled against the CJ were ‘motivated’ and that he had been pronounced guilty and punished before any inquiry by the Supreme Judicial Council. Another office bearer of the organisation said the government action was ‘somehow’ aimed at postponing the general election. —Staff Reporter
