KARACHI, March 10: The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was observed in the city on Saturday with religious fervour and solemnity. Allama Talib Jauhri addressed the central meeting, which was held at Nishtar Park from where the central procession was taken out towards Old Numaish.

Speakers paid tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala who fought for the cause of righteousness.

Participants of the procession offered Namaz-e-Zuhrain on main M.A. Jinnah Road in front of Imambargah Ali Raza. A number of participants raised slogans against the US and Israel and in favour of Iran and its leadership. Some of them also set fire to US and Israeli flags and protested against the atrocities committed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The procession passed through scheduled routes and terminated at Hussainian Iranian in Kharadar in the evening. Heavy contingent of police and rangers was deployed to provide security to the procession.
