KARACHI, March 7: The Karachi Press Club is holding a meeting on Thursday to honour Mukhtaran Mai on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.

Since she was brutally assaulted on the orders of the village jirga in 2002 in Meerwala, Multan, Mukhtaran Mai has waged a constant struggle to bring her oppressors to justice. She has emerged as an icon of the women's struggle for emancipation in Pakistan.

The meeting, to which men and women are invited, will be held at the press lub at 4 pm.—Our Staff Reporter
