KARACHI, March 4: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has exhorted non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to promote respectful methods for cooperation in weddings of deserving couples.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Governor’s House regarding arrangements for weddings of deserving couples, Dr Ibad called for elimination of customs like dowry and extravagance in weddings.

The government, he said, would make such arrangements throughout the province whereby no one would even think of committing suicide.

The governor called upon the NGOs that besides creating necessary awareness in the society, they should adopt such ways and also submit recommendations in the light of which the attainment of desired objectives could become possible.

He said that in the light of such recommendations a comprehensive programme would be chalked out.—APP
