KARACHI, March 3: The Sindh Board of Technical Education on Saturday announced launching of the Multimedia Operational Management (MOM) course, a specialised one-year diploma programme for students with advanced graphic skills.

Making the announcement at the Karachi Press Club, SBTE Chairman Dr Masroor Ahmed Shaikh told a press conference that the programme was especially designed and developed for students looking for a career in the field of print and electronic media and also for the professionals already associated with media.

Only one private institution has been allowed by the SBTE to offer the one-year diploma programme against a total fee of Rs40,000 whereas no public sector institute has been allowed so far to offer the diploma.

The SBTE Chairman said: “None of the public sector institutions meets the criteria set in this regard because of the non-availability of the required equipment and expertise with them.”

Dr Shaikh said the MOM was the first comprehensively designed and approved programme catering to the market needs and meeting the international standards.

He said the MOM was designed by the SBTE in collaboration with a private institution based in the city.

The programme was extensively reviewed and modified in consultation with highly qualified and competent professionals in the field of media and IT institutions.

The MOM would be offered on the basis of endorsement and the terms and conditions laid by the SBTE to the affiliated institutions only. Initially, the ZAS College has been authorised to offer the programme.

The major courses for the diploma are 3D Studio Max, Creative Drawing, Digital Image Processing, Story Boarding & Project Development, Sculpture Techniques, Architectural Design in 3D, Visual Effects & Compositing, Video NLE Basics, Sound Design & Video Streaming Techniques and Live Projects.
