QUETTA, Feb 27: The Balochistan High Court has granted bail to Balochistan National Party (Mengal) secretary-general Habib Jalib Baloch in two cases. A bench presided over by Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani on Tuesday accepted the bail petition filed by the petitioner and ordered his release on submitting surety bonds of Rs200,000.

He was arrested from Gwadar on Nov 30 and detained under the Maintenance of Public Order law. After expiry of the detention period he was arrested in cases registered by police.

The Civil Lines and New Sariab police stations had registered cases against activists of the BNP-M and other parties, including Mr Jalib, for involvement in riots in the provincial capital.
