KARACHI, Feb 27: Residents of various localities complained of frequent power suspensions on Tuesday, some of them saying they suffered three hour-long power breakdown the previous night.

A complainant from PECHS Society said that power supply to the locality was suspended at 6.30pm and was not restored till 9pm. He criticised the officials of the power utility for their failure to maintain uninterrupted power supply. Other residents of the locality, however, complained that the major power failure in PECHS Block-VI lasted more than three hours.

Power consumers from Old Sabzimandi said that power supply got suspended at 5.30pm and restored at 8pm.

The residents of Qasba Colony, Qasba Mor and Baloch Colony also complained of power failures. It was informed that power supply to the localities was suspended at 1pm and restored at 3pm.

Complaints of power breakdowns were also received from Landhi, Malir and Orangi Town. It was informed that the consumers in different areas of Orangi Town experienced two to three hours-long power breakdowns from 8pm to 11pm on Monday night.

Another consumer from North Nazimabad said that power supply to his locality was suspended at 11.30am and was restored at 12 noon.

A consumer from Bhittai Colony, Sector D said that power supply to his locality was suspended at 7pm and was not restored till 8.35pm. He asked the KESC authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the consumers.According to a KESC announcement power supply may be interrupted today from 9am to 5pm in the localities of Defence:Khayaban-i-Ghazi, Khayaban-i-Momin, Khayaban-i-Hafiz, Khayaban-i-Bukhari and Khayaban-i-Rahat; North Nazimabad: Block G, Buffer Zone sectors 15-A/1,15-A/2,15-A/3,15-A/4,16-A; Jamshed Town: PIB Colony, Old Sabzimandi, Saddar: Mohammadi House and Police Headquarters I.I Chundrigar Road; Korangi: sectors 16, 17, 18, 50-C, G and H areas; Landhi: Cattle Colony, Future Colony, Fish Harbour, Lalabad, Khaskeli Goth, Ali Brohi Goth; Malir: Moinabad,Ammar Yasir Society; Gulshan-i-Iqbal: Metroviile-III KDA Scheme-33; Garden: Usmanabad, Ranchore Lane and Nishter Road; Gulistan-i-Johar: Block-9, Bhitaiabad, Rehman Grammar School PMT; Orangi Town: Gulzar-i-Mohammadi Masjid PMT, Faqir Colony, Gulshan-i-Ghazi; Korangi Industrial Area: Farhan Food Substation, Rasheed Textile Substation; and North Karachi: Sector 14-A.
