KARACHI, Feb 26: Three men, who went on a looting spree were arrested red-handed on Monday morning. The police seized looted property, including jewellery, cellular phone and cash, and a snatched car from Shahid, Fida Hussain and Shamshad, all in their early 20s.

Police said the three-man gang first deprived a man of his motorcycle around midnight in the PIB police limits. Later they intercepted Raza Amir, who was going in his car to drop his friend, and deprived both of cash and cellular phones.

The dacoits then went to Khalid bin Walid Road where they robbed a couple of jewellery and cash. They then snatched Suzuki Alto (AKO-509) from Mohammed Imran at gunpoint near Al-Hilal Society and abandoned the stolen motorcycle. Then the dacoits went to Town Mart Medical and General Store at Bahadurabad and looted cash, perfumes and other goods.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), New Town, DSP Mohammed Nawaz Ranjha, told Dawn that a police patrol of New Town spotted them when they were fleeing after looting the medical store. “They were intercepted and arrested by the police who also seized three pistols and the looted property and cash from them”, he added.

He said two cases of car snatching and robbery at the medical store were registered against the suspect in New Town police station. “They were also booked for possessing unlicensed pistols”, he added. The DSP said a robbery case was also registered by the Ferozabad police.

He said the case of motorcycle snatching was not registered as the complainant did not approach the police apparently after finding his .
