KARACHI, Feb 26: Democratic Workers Union (DWU) has expressed its deep concern over the forced retirement of employees of the Zarai Taraqqiati Bank Limited and demanded of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take a suo motu notice of the government action.

Central General Secretary of DWU State Bank Unit, Liaquat Sahi, said that the services of the low salaried employees were being terminated in different financial institutions in the name of restructuring, which was tantamount to snatching their bread and butter.

The trade union leader said earlier, the government expelled the employees of Habib Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank and now those of the former agriculture bank were receiving the same treatment.

He said this exposed the claims of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz that the government would protect the rights of the employees” he added.—A Reporter
