KARACHI, Feb 24: An untimely injury compelled highly talented fourth seed Nasir Mushtaq to surrender his men’s singles pre-final after giving a scare to second seed Jalil Khan in the Sindh ranking tennis tournament at the CDGK sports complex on Saturday.

Nasir, 16, was 2-3 down in the second set when he fell on the court during a rally only to develop cramps in his left leg. Earlier, he created a stir by taking 5-4 lead and 30-0 up before losing 7-6 (7-4) in a tie-breaker.

Playing his first match of the competition, tennis ace and top seed Aqeel Khan gave a 6-1, 6-4 drubbing to Mubashir Afridi to enter the last four where he meet his younger brother Yasir Khan Sunday morning.

Syed Zuhair Raza whipped Hashim Khan in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to enter the juniors U-17 singles final.

Mustafa Zaidi also propelled in boys U-15 singles final by getting the better of Nameer Shamsi 6-3, 6-2 in the first semi-final.
