KARACHI, Feb 22: The role of Accountant-General has undergone tremendous changes as in the wake of electronic revolution we have to be fast, accurate, timely complete and transparent. This is the requirement of the time as we have now entered into a new era of a change management.

These views were expressed by AG Sindh Zulfiqar Ali Qadri at the annual district auditors’ conference held on Thursday at the AGS office.

Recalling the role of his office, Mr Qadri said that the AG office besides marinating government functionaries’ records was responsible for managing payments of the salaries and fund for the 400,000 employees of the Sindh government and dealing with matters of 100,000 pensioners.

Controller General of Accounts Naimatullah Abid, who was the chief guest at the conference, lauded the initiative of the AGS for organising the moot and said that in wake of transitional phase, on one hand devolution plan and on the other the ongoing changes in the system, the accounting officers had to deal with both the changes at a time and call for high degree of cooperation from district accounts officers.
