LAHORE, Feb 15: Four robbers gunned down a real estate agent and injured his friend near Saggian bridge on Thursday morning. Manzoor and Shahid Butt were intercepted at a picket set up by the robbers near Saggian bridge. Manzoor tried to speed away, but the interceptors opened fire on their car, leaving them in a pool of blood.

Manzoor, a resident of the Ravi Road vegetable market and a real estate agent, died on the spot, while Shahid of Kot Abdul Malik was rushed to Mayo Hospital in critical condition.

In Nishtar Colony, unidentified men hammered a shopkeeper to death in his shop.

Police suspected that some robbers came to Javed Masih’s shop and hit him in the head with some heavy object on resistance.

However, the duty officer said unidentified people had crushed Javed’s head when he was sleeping in his shop in Asif Town-2.

Javed, 45, was a resident of Yohannabad.

JEWELLER ROBBED: Four robbers took away gold ornaments worth Rs1.4 million from a jeweller’s shop in broad daylight in the Ghalib Market police limits.

Ahmad Subhani told this reporter that the robbers came to his shop in Street No 6, Husnainabad, by a car. They tied him, his employee and one of his friends Faheem with a rope, and locked them in the back room of the shop.

He said robbers escaped after collecting 1,183 gram jewellery, a cell phone and Rs10,000 in cash.

Subhani said three jewellery shops and a cell phone shop had been looted during the last couple of months in the area, but the police had not taken any step to check such incidents.

Five outlaws stormed into the house of a Jamaat-i-Islami leader, Zahid Butt, in China Scheme, Gujjarpura, and made off with cash and jewellery worth Rs200,000.

Later, the police with the help of sniffers searched the localities and took a gypsy into custody from a hut on suspicion.

Robbers came to the shop of Yousaf on Ferozepur Road in Shalimar Town and escaped with cash and valuables.

A robber intercepted Asif on Shah Kamal Road in Mughalpura and deprived him of thousands of rupees in cash and a cell phone, while two armed men robbed Sajid Ali of his wallet, two cell phones and a motorcycle on Lytton Road.
