KINGSTON, Feb 14: The 1975 and 1979 West Indies teams which won first two Cricket World Cups will be honoured during the opening match of the tournament.

will herald achievements of players who were led to victory by Clive Lloyd in inaugural event and who repeated as champions four years later under same captain.

The surviving 18 members of these two squads will be hosted at March 13 match by West Indies Cricket Board and ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc and presented with various memorabilia to mark celebration.

Presentations will also be made later to families of three deceased players — Keith Boyce, Roy Fredericks and Malcolm Marshall — and family of late Sir Clyde Walcott, manager, coach of both teams.

ICC CWC 2007 Managing Director and CEO, Chris Dehring said: “We will be honouring World Cup winners of 1975 and 1979 — teams from glory days led by great Clive Lloyd. We will present them famous trophy Prudential Cup on Caribbean soil. It will be great to having them with us on such an historic occasion.”
