LONDON, Feb 10: A Cambridge University student magazine which published one of the cartoons of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), which sparked worldwide protests when it was published in Denmark last year, will not face investigation, British police said on Friday.

But authorities at the elite university said that the student responsible for publishing it, in Clare College magazine Clareification, was under inquiry and could be disciplined.

The cartoon appeared next to a picture of a student.

Clare College, which was founded in 1326, called the image “abhorrent” and stressed it was “an open and inclusive college”.

Student newspaper Varsity said the cartoon had provoked “anger” and “enraged” those at the university.

Cambridge, in eastern England, is consistently ranked among the top 10 best universities globally and has around 25,000 students.—AFP
