LAHORE, Feb 8: A splendid century by skipper Salman Butt helped Lahore Shalimar reach 291 for five against Rawalpindi in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League fixture at the LCCA Ground on Thursday.

Test discard Salman made a 243-ball 166 with the aid of 18 fours and one six after the home side resumed at 15 for one in reply to Rawalpindi’s 330.

Imran Farhat, the current Test opener who batted at No 4, scored 42 and put 85 with Salman for the third wicket. However, the most productive stand of the innings was provided by Salman and Aamir Sajjad (49 not out, six fours) who added 155 for the fourth wicket before he was eventually caught by Sohail Tanvir off Yasim Murtaza Medium-pacer Yasir Arafat captured three for 60.
