KHAIRPUR: 5 Tapedars suspended

KHAIRPUR, Feb 8: The district officer (revenue) suspended five tapedars on Thursday for not depositing the amount of abiyana and arrears recovered by them from the growers.

Abdul Wahid Memon (deh Therhi), Sikandar-e-Azam Solangi (deh Mori), Altaf Hussain Shar (deh Tando Nazar Ali), Rasool Bux Joyo (deh Niwaro) and Mohammad Azam Unnar (deh Kandiari/Hussain Pato) were also issued show cause notices.

WOMAN KILLED: A woman was killed on the pretext of karo-kari in Bhambhro village near Jhando Mashaikh on Wednesday night.

Nazir Bhambhro killed his wife Zainab, 22, with the help of bricks and bullets in his house in the village while she was asleep.

Her body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem at the Civil Hospital. The Kotdiji police have arrested the accused.

More than 250 people, most of them women, are killed in Sindh every year on the pretext of karo-kari (maintaining illicit relations).

SUICIDE: A young man committed suicide by taking poison in Zanwar Ghulam Hussain village on Wednesday night.

Huzoor Bux Mari, 20, demanded a motorcycle from his parents and, on their refusal, consumed poison. He died while being taken to a hospital.

DEMONSTRATION: Citizens and lawyers staged a demonstration on Tuesday against the Ubauro police for its failure to arrest all the accused in the gang rape of a girl, Naseeban Labano.

Led by president of the People’s Lawyers Forum, Sukkur region, Liaquat Shar, and president of the Shehri Ittehad, Qurban Mangi, the protesters gathered outside the press club and raised slogans against the police.

They also criticized the Dadu police for its failure in arresting the accused involved in kidnapping and raping a school girl, Kainat Soomro.
