KARACHI, Feb 8: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Thursday announced that it was boycotting the by-election for NA-250.

Speaking at a press conference at Idara Noor-i-Haq, MMA leaders – Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, Siddiq Rathore, Allama Abbas Taqvi, MMA candidate for NA-250 Raja Arif Sultan and others – said that though the constituency was an MMA stronghold as the seat had fallen vacant due to the death of its MNA Abdul Sattar Afghani. And if fair elections were held, the MMA would win it again, but the party was boycotting the poll under protest against what it alleged was pre-poll rigging launched by the government.
