KARACHI, Feb 3: Power consumers in most of the city areas suffered prolonged and intermittent suspension of electricity supply on Saturday as the KESC carried out upgradation, replacement and maintenance of its various installations.

Complaints of low voltage were also received from many areas, mainly Defence and Clifton areas, which suffered prolonged power failures together with Orangi, Metroville, Korangi, SITE Industrial Area, Federal B Area (Blocks 17 and 21) and Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

The KESC has announced another shutdown from 9am to 5pm on Sunday for Defence Phase-V Extension, Khayaban-i-Jami, New Chali, Denso Hall, Radio Pakistan, M.A. Jinnah Road, Ratan Talao, Eidgah, Mai Kolachi, Queens Telephone Exchange, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Abdullah Haroon Road, etc.

According to an announcement, interruption in power supply between 8am and 11am may also be experienced in almost all blocks of North Nazimabad, Wahid Colony, Moosa Goth, Pathan Colony, Frontier Colony, Bilalabad, Kausar Niazi Colony, Arafat Town, Own Plaza, Peela School, Siraj Colony, Nazimabad’s blocks 1, 1-G, 3-H and 3-F, 1-D Area, Jalalabad, Kulsoom Apartment, Firdous Colony, Khamoosh Colony, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Lal Masjid, Orangi Town’s Sector-1, E and G etc.

CABLE THEFT CASE: The Judicial Magistrate, South, Samina Ghauri, rejected bail application of two KESC employees in a cable theft case and remanded them in police custody till February 6.

The case against Khaliquzzam and Mazhar Abbas was registered at the Korangi police station on the complaint of Farrukhullah, Xen of the KESC Korangi Industrial Area.
