THATTA, Feb 19: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Thatta, in coordination with DSP Headquarters Raunaq Ali has seized the record of the local district police office in order to probe into the alleged misappropriation of over Rs 2.8 million.

Sources said that in 1996, an account number 1214 titled ‘SSP Thatta’ was opened at Allied Bank Thatta with an initial cash deposit of Rs 28,12,200 (vide bank deposit slip No 1879626). The same was reportedly withdrawn in lumpsum on the 10th day of its deposit through a cheque No 40774376.

However, source said that in official records no such transaction was shown.

ROBBED: Abdul Waheed Memon, an engineer at Jamshoro Power Plant, and his companion Allah Dino, a contractor, were robbed of their car (PH-4376) and Rs 80,000 in the jurisdiction of Jheruk police station on the National Highway, 50 kms off Thatta on Monday.
