KARACHI: Qazi Saeed Akbar dies

KARACHI, Jan 31: Qazi Saeed Akbar, veteran journalist and publisher, chief editor of English daily Regional Times and former secretary-general of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society, died in a hospital here on Wednesday morning after protracted illness. He was 67.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter.

Qazi Saeed was son of veteran Muslim League leader Qazi Mohammad Akbar and cousin of Qazi Asad Abid, secretary-general of All Pakistan Newspapers Society.

The funeral procession will be taken out from the Qazi House in Civil Lines, Hyderabad, at 4pm on Thursday. He will be laid to rest in the Tando Jehania graveyard.

Qazi Saeed’s death has been mourned by Sindh People’s Party Parliamentarians chief Syed Qaim Ali Shah, other PPP leaders including Mian Raza Rabbani, Nafees Siddiqi, Rashid Rabbani and Waqar Mehdi, and APNS office-bearers.
