NAWABSHAH, Jan 29: Muharram mourners brought out Zuljanah and Alam processions in 60 Miles and 68 Miles town and many other parts of the city on Monday. A Zuljanah and Alam procession emerged from local imambargah in 60 Miles and culminated at the main Imambargah after marching on the permitted route.

Fifty people suffered injuries after the mourners flagellated themselves with chains on Daur Road.

They were provided medical treatment on the spot at the medical camps set up by different political and social welfare organisations along the processions’ routes.

The district’s Muttahida Qaumi Movement has formed peace committees at unit and sector level to help keep an eye on the miscreants. The party has also formed a volunteer force to help maintain peace along the routes taken by different processions on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

District Nazim Faryal Talpur, Taluka Nazim Abdul Rauf, DPO, DCO and commandant of Indus Rangers visited different areas of the district to inspect security arrangements while police conducted snap-checking of vehicles and patrolled different parts of the city as part of security measures.
