CHENNAI, Jan 27: The West Indies cricket captain Brain Lara says former Pakistan captain and speedster Wasim Akram was the most difficult bowler to handle for him. In the Indian team, Lara added, he found leg-spinner Anil Kumble and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh difficult to play against.

Lara, the highest run getter in Tests, predicted Sachin Tendulkar will return to form in the coming World Cup. “There is no doubt about Sachin’s talent; he will be back from the lean patch even before the World Cup. Every player has ups and downs in his career whether he is a batsman or a bowler,” Lara expressed. “Even I was out of form several times. It does not mean it will be so for ever.”

Lara, having made several world records in Test cricket, also said, “A player like Sachin, who is a lot more consistent than me, has a lot more to give to his team. Though individuals show their talents, cricket is a game of teamwork.”— Agencies
