HYDERABAD, Jan 19: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has appreciated the role of the Pakhtoon community in the development of the city and said that neglected settlements of Pakhtoons would be provided facilities and problems of sewerage at the truck stand would be solved.

He said that in recognition of the services of Bacha Khan, Toap Chorangi would be named after him and a memorial would be built there after approval was granted by the district council.

The nazim was talking to a delegation of Awami National Party leaders, which had called on him at his office here on Friday. The members of the delegation included Qamoos Gul Khattak, Haji Asmatullah Mehsud, Aurangzeb Khan and Sher Zaman Khan.

Mr Jamil said that late Abdul Ghaffar Khan was not only a leading political leader of Pakistan but also of the subcontinent, who had served the cause of downtrodden masses and strived for peace and harmony.

He regretted that proper attention had not been paid to development of the Pakhtoon settlements in the past and assured the delegation that the situation would be rectified.

On a complaint made by the delegation, Mr Jamil said that the sewerage problem of the new truck stand at Hala Naka, spread over 23 acres of land, would be solved on priority basis.
