KARACHI, Jan 18: The public complaints being submitted to the provincial ombudsman office are mostly against police injustices.

The registrar of the ombudsman, Masood Ishrat Arain, said despite lack of awareness about the progress of the ombudsman’s office hundreds of applications were submitted to the office every month, which were decided within two weeks or at most in three months without asking parties to hire any legal counsel.

According to him, most of the complaints are against police while the local government departments, irrigation, revenue, health and education come next.

The registrar said six new offices would be opened this year to provide people an easy access to justice. These offices would be established at Awami Markaz, Sharea Faisal, Badin, Dadu, Thatta, Mithi and Jacobabad.

In December, he said, 292 out of 473 cases had been decided.
