KARACHI, Jan 12: A bandit was killed in an encounter in PIB Colony late Thursday night. Police said Osama and his wife were intercepted by two armed men on a motorcycle in PIB Colony. The bandits robbed the couple of gold ornaments and cellphone at gunpoint and escaped.

Osama informed a police party positioned at a distance immediately after the incident. When police chased them, the suspects opened fire. Police returned the fire wounding one of the suspects, identified as Muhammad Ali. However, he succumbed to wounds on way to the hospital.

Police claimed the recovery of all the snatched ornaments and cellphones from his possession.

KILLED: A private guard was shot dead outside a house in Darakhshan area late on Thursday night.

Police said Fayyaz Baloch and other guards were on duty outside the house of Hameed-ullah in Defence Phase V when a youth came there and opened fire. The guards retuned the fire, however, the suspect fled.

Jalal Khan, the son of Hameedullah, lodged a complaint with the Darakhshan police station.

BODY FOUND: Body of an unidentified young man was recovered from Lyari on Friday.

Police said the body was stuffed in a gunny bag and was dumped in Kalakot police limits. Hospital sources said the victim’s throat was slit.

Following completion of all the legal formalities, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for identification.

ACCIDENT: In a hit-and-run, a speeding bus knocked down a six-year-old boy, Ali Zaman, in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

The boy was crossing the road when he was hit by the bus. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

GROOM ARRESTED: A groom and his friend were arrested when one of the guests at his wedding died in celebratory firing in Orangi Town late Thursday night.

Police said the groom’s friend, Maqbool, was firing when a bullet stuck in pistols chamber after a few shots. As he attempted to remove it, the pistol went off killing Aminuddin, who was sitting beside him.

Following the incident, police arrested Maqbool and the groom Moin Ahmed.
