KARACHI: 3 killed in road accidents

KARACHI, Jan 11: Three persons died and several others were injured in different accidents on Thursday. Police said that about 11 persons were wounded when two passenger buses collided on Super Highway.

Police said that Salman succumbed to his injuries while the injured were being taken to different hospitals.

In another accident, a 32-year-old man, Zafar, was knocked down by a speeding UTS bus in Landhi area.

The victim died on the spot and his body was sent to the Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities.

Police apprehended the driver and impounded the vehicle.

In the third accident, a policeman died when a speeding dumper hit him at Power House Chowrangi, Surjani Town.

Police said that Imtiaz Ahmed, a sheet clerk posted at the New Karachi police station, was going to somewhere on his motorcycle when knocked down by the dumper.

The dumper was impounded and its cleaner arrested. However, the driver managed to escape from the scene.

The body has been shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

ARRESTED: Police on Thursday arrested an accused from Garden area who was wanted in over 40 different cases.

According to the ADRC, Afzal alias Recha was arrested, a TT pistol was recovered from his possession. Till the filing of this report he was being interrogated.
