KARACHI, Jan 10: Shahzeb Anwar’s brilliance could not save Beaconhouse Jubilee Campus from tasting 31-38 defeat at the hands of GBHS Mirpurkhas on the opening day of Inter-school Basketball championship which commenced at KPT Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Shahzeb was on scoring spree with a tally of 26 points as his team trailed 13-26 at half time.

Harris Hussain (16) and Sher Mohammad (10) were the main scorers for the only outstation team in the contest.

Karachi Grammar School opened their campaign on a winning note when they notched up an impressive 54-18 victory over Foundation Public School in group ‘C’. The winners led 29-12 at interval.

Obaid Khan and Abdul Sami contributed 17 and 12 and paved the way for their team to win the match with ease. Saqib and Farzan shared 12 points amongst themselves for losers.

St Patrick’s whipped Auctor’s Academy 42-15 in the group ‘B’ match, after enjoying 24-5 lead at breather.

Sameer and Ryan scored 10 and 9 for St Pat’s while Atif contributed 10 for Auctor’s Academy.

The City School had sweet and sour results on the opening day as Darakshan Campus edged out Aureol High School 45-18 in group ‘C’ while Gulshan Campus went down 29-48 to Shah Wilayat School in group ‘B’.

Raja Jehanzeb top scored for Darakshan with 19 points. He was followed by Moiz Sultan 8.

Similarly, Asmat Haider amassed 20 points in Shah Wilayat’s triumph while Zain Shahid scored 11.

South Shore School got a walkover against Happy Home School after the latter pulled out at the last moment.
