Robbers waylay marriage party

LAHORE, Jan 9: Robbers struck 20 times in the city on Tuesday and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables worth millions of rupees.

Four robbers intercepted a coach carrying marriage participants in City Raiwind area early Tuesday and deprived them of cash, jewellery and other valuables worth over Rs2 million.

Reports said the bus carrying around 40 women and children was returning to Raiwind from Lahore after attending a marriage when four robbers stopped it near Chowk Araiayn at 3am.

Raiwind City SHO Rana Riaz claimed that the loss was around Rs250,000 as jewellery worn by most of the women was artificial.

Three robbers intercepted Hassan outside Defence Banquet Hall and deprived him of Rs755,000 in cash.

Three robbers waylaid Abdul Rasheed in Gulberg when he was on way after withdrawing Rs300,000 from a bank. Three cars riders took away Rs300,000 at gunpoint from Islampura market.

Unidentified robbers barged into 510-W Block in Defence, held the inmates at gunpoint and took away cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Robbers stormed into 163-Cavalry Ground in South Cantonment and made off with cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Two robbers deprived Roshan Jutt of Rs90,000 at gunpoint in Baghbanpura area while a woman was deprived of four gold bangles and a cell phone in Wahdat Colony.

Some armed people came to a real estate office of Muhammad Hassnain in Township and escaped with four cell phones and as many wrist watches bedsides some cash.

Robbers burst into Shafeeq’s general store and took away cash and a cell phone while another gang intercepted Zulfikar and deprived him of cash and a cell phone.

Two robbers barged into Rafeeq Sweets and took away Rs15,000 and a cell phone while Guddu was deprive of cash and phone in Baghbanpura area.

SNATCHED/STOLEN: A car was driven away at gunpoint from Iqbal Town while a motorcycle was snatched from Kot Lakhpat.

Three cars were stolen from Shadman, Ghalib Market and Musilm Town areas while three motorcycles were lifted from Kot Lakhpat, Nawankot and Islampura.
