KARACHI, Jan 8: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Monday that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League and its allies in the government would contest general elections from a single platform and continue their struggle to achieve a progressive, prosperous, enlightened and Islamic Pakistan, as envisaged by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The prime minister said this while talking to Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim at the Governor’s House on Monday where he chaired a meeting attended by federal ministers Jahangir KhanTareen, Babar Khan Ghauri and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Commander (Retd) Khalil-ur-Rehman.

Referring to the government’s policies he assured them of their continuity and consistency particularly in political, economic and diplomatic fields.

Emphasising the need for monitoring the ongoing development projects, he said the timely completion of the projects would accelerate the process of transforming the benefits of growth and development to the people.

Governor Ibad informed the prime minister that the law and order situation was gradually improving in Sindh.

Chief Minister Arbab Rahim briefed the prime minister about the progress of drip irrigation and brick lining of water courses in Sindh to prevent water wastage. He said the reduction in the price of DAP fertiliser had been welcomed across the province.

Later the prime minister visited the chief minister’s secretariat and held a one-on-one meeting with Chief Minister Dr Arbab Rahim and briefed him about uplift projects in Sindh.
