KARACHI, Jan 5: The Town Council of New Karachi has urged the town administration to take immediate steps to protect the residents of Kaliana Town UC-1 against the hazardous effects of emissions from the nearby cement factory.

A resolution moved by UC-1 Naib Nazim Nasar Ali in this regard was passed by the town council urging the town administration to take strong measures to save the residents of Kaliana Town Sectors 7-C, 7-D, 1, 2, 3 and 4 from the hazardous emissions.

Through another resolution, the council demanded legislation by the town administration for role of union councils in the supervision of graveyards.

Through yet another resolution, the council condemned the attack on UC-4 Nazim Mohammed Amin and called for police protection to the elected representatives.

Town Officer Infrastructure briefed the council about arrangements made for removal of offal on Eidul Azha.—APP
