KARACHI, Dec 31: Speakers at a demonstration on Sunday demanded that the United States-led occupying forces in Iraq and Afghanistan leave immediately so that the local people can have governments of their choice.

They were speaking at a protest demonstration organised by the Labour Party of Pakistan to condemn the imperialists’ atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan, killings in Waziristan and Balochistan, “picking up” of people by government agencies, police atrocities in Rawalpindi.

Speaking on the occasion, LPP leaders condemned the hanging of Saddam Hussain. Terming it a political murder, they said his trial was an eyewash. They said that the hanging showed the oppression of American imperialism on a nation.

They, however, clarified that they were not justifying the heinous crimes that the Iraqi dictator had committed against his people.

They said George Bush and Tony Blair were also responsible for killing over half a million people in Iraq alone and they must also be tried and punished.
