Three blind murders traced

GUJRAT, Dec 30: Lalamusa Saddar police on Saturday claimed to have traced three blind murders and retrieved two decomposed bodies from a deserted well near Sarwani village.

Reports said that proclaimed offender Azeem Butt, who had shot dead ASI Malik Arshad a few days back, confessed to killing three more people during interrogation.

Sadar SHO Malik Nazir said that the PO had confessed to bumping off Arif Phelwan and Najaf of Jhelum after taking Rs0.8 million from rivals of the former on Aug 18, 2005. Himself a PO and a frequent visitor of his outhouse, he said Arif’s rivals wanted his murder.

Quoting Azeem, the SHO said that he had shot dead the two men, chopped off their heads and later threw their bodies in a well. Accused Azeem Butt received the amount from their rivals after showing their heads. Later, the police recovered their bodies.

Lalamusa Sadar police registered a case against 11 nominated accused, including Azeem Butt and Shabbir Butt.

The accused also confessed to murdering Sheraz Anjum alias Sheri some five months ago. Later, they threw their bodies into the canal near Atowala. The SHO said that the Kharian Sadar police had recovered the body and registered a case against unknown accused.
