NAWABSHAH, Dec 14: Nawabshah chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has criticised the government decision to change the name of People’s Medical College.

Talking to newsmen at the press club here on Thursday, Dr Ghulam Hyder Memon, association’s general secretary, said there was no need to change the name of a prestigious institution. A lot of money would be wasted in adjusting to the change, he said.

“People’s Medical College will now be called Nawabshah Medical College whose abbreviation is NMC,” he said, adding: “Since Multan’s Nishtar Medical College is also known as NMC, it will cause confusion among international institutions and doctors.”

Dr Memon demanded of the government to withdraw the decision otherwise the Pakistan Medical Association would move the high court against it.
