Published December 13, 2006

KARACHI, Dec 12: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Karachi DIGs of operation and administration for December 21on a contempt application against them for disobeying a court order.

Ghulam Mustufa submitted that the court ordered the police officials concerned, on his petition, to take action against policeman Riasat Ali who took job in the department through fake documents.

His counsel Chudhary Abdul Rasheed said the provincial police officer after conducting inquiry ordered the Capital City Police Officer of Karachi to take departmental action and lodge a criminal case against the policeman but the alleged contemnors were not complying with the court orders.

The SHC's division bench comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Faisal Arab, after preliminary hearing of the application, issued notices to DIGs Mushtaq Shah and Zafar Ahmed Farooqui for December 21 and called for their comments. —PPI
