DOHA, Dec 11: Pakistan’s medal hopes Mansoor Zaman and Aamir Atlas moved into the quarter-finals of the Asian Games squash event, carving out straight-set victories at the Khalifa International Squash Complex here on Monday.

World No 24 and South Asian Games champion, Mansoor outplayed Philippines’ Ricky Espinola 9-0, 9-1, 9-0 while young Aamir dismissed Sri Lankan Navin Samarasinghe 9-2, 9-0, 9-5.

Mansoor’s brilliant strokes kept his opponent under immense pressure who never attempted to challenge Mansoor’s authority.

Mansoor won the points at will, anticipating superb placing and then killing the ball in both corners.

Tiny Aamir moved in the court like a running machine brilliantly picking up some balls from difficult angles and then punishing his opponent with furious stroke play and sizzling serves.—APP
