HYDERABAD, Dec 3: Hyderabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Sukkur, Rohri, Pano Akil, Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo, Daharki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Kandhkot, Thull and several other parts of Sindh received the first showers of winter on late Saturday night, which continued off and on till Sunday evening.

The rainwater submerged main roads in many parts. In Hyderabad it started at around 5 pm on Sunday and continued intermittently heralding a pleasant change in climate.

There were reports of accumulating slime and slush on the roads and power breakdowns.

The sudden increase in cold shot up by 20 to 30 per cent the prices of warm clothes, eggs, chicken and fish and witnessed a drop in gas pressure due to its increased use.

Farmers said that the cold and rains would have proved favourable for wheat crop during this time of the year but this time it would not prove so good for the second season of wheat sowing.
